If you haven't heard of Hazbin Hotel yet, you clearly are not on the same side of TikTok as me. It's a great TV show and if you haven't seen it yet, I would highly recommend it. Hazbin Hotel has several... interesting characters and all of them have unique character designs. Now, fan art sometimes gets a bad rap in the art world, but I enjoy creating fan art and believe that it can help you along your art journey.
Fan Art As Gifts!
One of my favorite things about discovering a new tv series is sharing it with other people. And what better way to share my love for a tv series than gifting art based off the characters!
I made this Adam figurine and it's not the greatest creation I've ever made, but I think it looks pretty good. This sculpture took me about 6 hours to complete. I was using acrylic paints and a lot of the time I spent on this piece was trying to create the perfect shade for the blue. I used a bottle cap as the base and a straw to hold up the figurine. I completed the eyes and mouth in around three brush strokes.
Also, art doesn't always have to be this profound art piece that evokes tears. They can also just be silly figurines of an angel man.

Fan Art Builds Community
Fandoms (which for those who don't know means: groups of fans that enjoy specific tv shows, books, or movies) already have a community built in, so if you want to share your art with other people, you've already got a bunch of people who would be interested! It's also a very active community, as many people are posting fan art on Instagram reels, TikToks, animatics, and reddit of Hazbin Hotel characters. But, even if you aren't in a fandom with a super active community, finding other people who like the same things you do in a smaller community can be more exciting.
Fan Art: Inspiration and Motivation
I don't know about all of you, but sometimes I just don't feel like creating art. But after
watching a tv series where the characters' designs are dynamic and unique, I feel so inspired to create them in my own style. Charlie and Vaggie are my favorite characters, so I decided to draw them.
My first attempts were... not great. I was using a pen and trying to not use a reference, so it wasn't my best art piece. But I consider this drawing that I did of Vaggie and Charlie pretty cute! I think I'm going to color them eventually, but I'm a little worried about ruining the sketch.
